“Just be consistent.”

“You need to show them who’s boss.”

“They’ll grow out of it.”

You’re not alone. And there is a clear path forward. This is exactly what the right support, at the right time, can do.
  • Play biting turns into impulse-control issues
  • Fear periods can lead to long-term anxiety
  • Poor social skills lead to reactivity or overexcitement
  • Unclear boundaries lead to frustration, confusion, and guilt
  • The bond between you grows strained rather than strong

What Many Puppy Owners Don’t Realize

Cute puppy behaviors often become frustrating adult habits if not addressed early.
Correction-based training can create anxiety that affects your puppy for life.
Socialization isn’t about meeting lots of dogs. It’s about quality experiences that build confidence.
Your puppy’s ‘personality’ is still developing. They’re not stubborn. They’re learning how to learn.
Prevention is much easier than correction. Investing now creates years of joy later.

  • Intentional Socialization
Structured introductions teach your puppy how to interact with people and other dogs safely and confidently. Not just exposure, but guided experience that builds real social skills.
  • Confidence Through Exposure
New sounds, textures, surfaces, and challenges build resilience and curiosity. A puppy who has met the world calmly and optimistically is a puppy who can handle it.
  • Emotional Regulation Training
Through Training Between the Ears relaxation protocols and game-based learning, your puppy learns to choose calm and go with the flow, one of the most valuable skills they’ll carry into adulthood.
  • Rest and Recovery Built-in
We honor your puppy’s need for downtime. Learning sticks when puppies aren’t overwhelmed, so rest is built into every day, not treated as wasted time.
  • Cooperative Care & Consent-Based Handling
Grooming, nail care, and handling are introduced gently and positively so your puppy learns to be a willing, comfortable partner, not just a dog who tolerates it.
  • Foundation for Life Skills
Early cues like here, climb, and leash skills are introduced through playful experiences, but our greater focus is on helping your puppy develop manners, clarity, and confidence in real-life situations.
  • Custom-Tailored Facility Training: A minimum of four weeks of trainer-led immersion at our boutique facility, structured around your puppy’s individual pace and temperament.
  • Daily Enrichment & Development: Emotional regulation games, structured rest, play, and learning woven into every single day.
  • Trainer-Led Socialization: Carefully curated puppy groups that build confidence and teach appropriate communication with people and other dogs.
  • Owner Coaching & Progress Reports: Weekly written updates, in-person coaching sessions, and personalized support so you always know exactly where your puppy is and what’s coming next.
  • Home Transition Kit: Gear and guidance to help you maintain momentum at home from day one.
  • Three Months of Continued Coaching: Structured follow-up and integration support after the facility portion.
  • Ongoing Access to a Trusted Place for Your Dog: As a graduate, your puppy has access to our carefully supervised Playcare program, emotionally healthy social play, and boutique boarding with the same experienced team they already know and trust.

THAT PEACE OF MIND IS PRICELESS

We were first-time dog owners. No experience, no playbook. Just a yellow Lab puppy and a lot of uncertainty. The biting, the jumping, the crate struggles, the accidents. We didn’t know what we were doing, and we didn’t know if what we were teaching her was right or if any of it would stick.

I felt helpless. She can’t tell us what’s wrong. She can’t tell us what she needs. I just didn’t know what I was doing.

What brought us to Well Mannered Dog was the reviews, and then the phone call. From that first conversation, everything they talked about, the process, the depth of it, made me feel comfortable. Like she was going to be genuinely cared for.

The results came faster than we expected. Within the first two weeks, Maye was sitting at the door before going outside. She started going to her crate on her own. The things I’d been trying to teach her from TikTok videos and Google searches, she got them here, and they stuck.

The biggest click for me was learning that dogs match your energy. When I slowed down and got calm, she got calm. That changed how I approach everything with her.

Ryan said it best. I was checking the ring camera every five minutes whenever we left the house. After training, we went to the beach, we went to dinner, and I never looked at my phone.

That peace of mind is priceless.

If we ever got another puppy, we would do this a million times over.

    THAT’S EVERYTHING

Pippa is my first dog. I got her when she was a baby, and I wanted to do everything right. I tried training her myself, but it took so much time and caused both of us frustration. I decided to turn to the experts. That decision worked.

After the program, Pippa was so much calmer and well-adjusted. I had more confidence that we could go out and be around other dogs and people without her getting too excited. That version of me that second-guessed every outing just quietly disappeared.

We both love Chucktown Charley. Every morning, Pippa jumps into the arms of whoever gets her out of the car. I love having the peace of mind that she’s loved and taken care of when she’s there for playcare or boarding. She always comes home exhausted.

One moment that stands out: the team told me Pippa was going to be a buddy for a new Cavalier King Charles puppy who was just starting training. It was so sweet to see her showing him the ropes. And every year, her Chucktown Charley portraits end up on my Christmas cards.

She has great friends there. I know she’s loved. That’s everything.

Courage in motion. Confidence grows one step at a time through thoughtful exposure to new experiences.

Nope—quite the opposite. Puppies begin learning the moment they come home. We use gentle, age-appropriate methods designed to nurture emotional flexibility and build trust during this sensitive stage.

That’s completely okay. We’ll meet you and your puppy where you are. Our goal isn’t to undo what you’ve tried—it’s to help refine and support your puppy’s development in a way that works for both of you.

Many puppy owners feel this way, and it makes sense. There’s a lot of conflicting information out there, and the stakes feel high. The good news is that you don’t have to figure it out alone. You’ll have clear, consistent guidance at every step, and we’ll make sure you know exactly what’s working and why.

Yes! Our training enhances your puppy’s ability to engage in play in a healthy, self-regulated way and you’ll probably enjoy it more. A puppy who can handle excitement and settle back down is a puppy you can actually play with freely. That’s the goal.

Completely normal, and it doesn’t mean anything went wrong. Puppies develop in waves, not straight lines. The regression you’re seeing is actually part of how learning consolidates. Keep going. It catches up.

Group classes can be a good starting point, but they’re built for groups, not your puppy. Puppy Base Camp is designed around your dog’s individual temperament, pace, and needs. Daily immersion, real-world environments, and direct coaching for you means both of you are building skills that actually stick.

You’re a vital part of your puppy’s journey. We’ll keep you connected every step of the way with updates, live coaching, and personalized tools. You’ll feel confident, not confused, about how to keep the progress going at home.

We don’t disappear when your puppy goes home. For three months after the facility portion, we stay by your side with continued coaching, support sessions, and real-life application help to ensure long-term success. And when you need us later, we’re still here for Playcare, boarding, and even refresher training, so your dog always has a safe, familiar place to continue learning and growing.

At Well Mannered Dog, we’ve helped hundreds of Charleston families raise puppies into calm, connected adult dogs through emotionally intelligent, relationship-first training.

This journey doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With our team’s experience, structure, and support, you and your puppy can grow confidently together.
