For Anyone Considering Dog Training:
I highly recommend Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston for your new puppy to learn obedience skills, for your rambunctious young adult to learn better habits, or even for your older dog to brush up on good manners.
I am the proud owner of two fantastic American Pit Bull Terriers, Blue and Allie. They were good dogs, but had some bad habits to break. Allison came to my home to meet with us and together, we came up with a plan to address the behaviors I wanted to correct. Throughout our weeks of training, Allison taught me techniques and gave me the tools I needed to become more of a leader for my dogs. They, in turn, responded to this new leadership by improving their behaviors. As I watched the improvements taking place, I grew more confident in my own abilities to handle two young, energetic dogs.
The change is amazing for both of them, but especially Blue. On walks, he acted very aggressively towards other dogs we would meet. He would be very hard to control and walks became a chore for us. Allison addressed this issue by having Tanya come over with her dog. Week after week, we would walk Blue up and down the street around other dogs until he learned to control his impulses and act nicely on walks. While training is always an ongoing process and he isn’t perfect yet, he is now able to participate in a group class with several other strange dogs–something I never thought would be possible!
We discovered that Allie is actually quite an obedient dog! Her bad behavior was stemming mostly from feeding off of Blue and his antics. Once we got Blue to the point where he was calm, Allie quickly followed suit and she was able to participate in group classes after only a few private lessons and she’s done great at every one. Walking both of them is now something I look forward to doing–not something I dread.
Allison was a great trainer for us and I’m so glad we had the opportunity to work together. She met every challenge Blue and Allie gave her and was very encouraging about their progress. When one technique didn’t work very well, she tried something else that was more effective. I appreciated her not using a one-size-fits-all approach to dog training and each lesson was tailored to our specific situations. If at any time I was uncomfortable with a method she wanted to use, she respected that and found a method that would work for everyone.
I know it sounds like I can’t say enough good things about my experience, and that’s because I really can’t! My only regret was that I didn’t start much sooner.
If you’ve been considering dog training but have been putting it off for some reason–stop waiting! I think every dog deserves to know basic obedience and good manners and Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston is the perfect way to accomplish that.
