I found out about Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston from the Internet, searching for some kind of help, which I needed for my boxer Ollie, and for myself. I had been to obedience training with him when he was very young, but after that was over I wasn’t consistent with all that I had learned, and realized we needed more training. It seemed I was having the most problems with Ollie at home, so Well Mannered Dog Training sounded like something I could use.
The biggest issue I have had with my dog is a constant battle for the leadership position in the household. He is a very strong-willed dog who wants to be in control, and I am the opposite of that. My trainer from Well Mannered Dog Training was Tanya. Tanya was very good at letting Ollie know that she was not playing around, and would not let him get what he wanted. I could always see a difference in how Ollie reacted to her, and then how he would act towards me. He would give her respect, and then just walk all over me. Some of the different things Tanya taught us were sit/stay, down/stay, come, control walk/heel, and place.
One of the biggest improvements I think I had during the training was with walking Ollie. He is still a challenge for me, but I was able to get to a point where I could walk with him and actually enjoy walking. I have come a long ways with him, and it is still an ongoing process. What I’ve learned the most is that I need to be more confident with myself, so Ollie will listen to me and respect me. I definitely recommend Well Mannered Dog Training to anyone who feels they need help with their dog.
I believe it can help the owner as much as it can the dog.
