This letter is in reference to the work of Allison Allen with Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston. Allison came to visit myself and my dog, Beauregard, this past January.

From the moment she entered my home, I knew she would make a positive impact on Beau.

Within just a few minutes, Allison was able to quickly identify Beau’s problem and came up with a plan to ensure his happiness and mine. In addition to the positive training Beau received, Allison was also able to identify his breed, as it was my understanding that I had a beautiful mutt on my hands. This revelation was a wonderful bonus to an already great experience.

Allison was always timely and efficient and I felt that she truly liked Beauregard and wanted to see him succeed. In our group sessions, Allison is firm with the dogs and the owners, but still has the all important gentle spirit that is so comforting to pet owners.

I have had the opportunity to recommend Allison to others, as I have been nothing but fully satisfied with her training ability.

The purpose of this letter is to recommend Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston and, more specifically, Allison Allen.

My wife, Laura, and I adopted our dog Max from a shelter in North Carolina. Max is a boxer / hound mix. At the time of the training, Max was roughly a year old, and he had been with us for about 4 months.

Prior to the training, Max was a wild man at all times! He ran amuck in the house, barked at our other dogs, and generally was unruly. We could not take him on long walks because of his excitement level was often uncontrollable, though he was just being a puppy. We loved his personality, but we needed to change some of his actions for the better.

After contacting Well Mannered Dog Training, Allison came to the house and explained the various programs.

She completely understood our frustrations with Max. Allison also understood that our goal was to minimize Max’s negative actions and to maximize the positive actions and personality of Max.

As we were about to have our first child and thus had a strict timetable, Allison jumped right in and devised an excellent training plan. She always arrived on time with a set of goals to help us with Max.

Today, Max is doing great. He has retained all of his training, and I believe that he will continue to maintain a high level of retention as we continue to work with him.

As to this company and Allison, I do not have any reservations in recommending them to anyone who believes their dog may need some training. In fact, the service is also great for the owners, who sometimes need some training as well!

I recently received a red nose pit bull from my little brothers. My mother said if we were going to keep her, then I would have to get her trained. So, I immediately started searching the internet for a dog trainer and I came across the Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston website. This website provided me with an option that I needed which was the training in your home.

Before Sheba received training, it was very difficult to get her to go outside to handle her business and to obey other commands we were trying to teach her.

Once the training began, she learned her commands quickly; which I found to be very impressive.

She listened to John during her training and gave him her undivided attention. She gave me the same respect while we did the training throughout the weeks. Sometimes it got a little hard on everyone but she did extremely well overall.

John did an outstanding job with training Sheba. I could not have had a better trainer. He understood the challenges she faced because of his experience with his own pet pit bulls. I would recommend John to anyone that needs help training their pet because any issues that you may have he always had a solution.

Athena the Mixed Breed

I am writing this recommendation to share with you the positive training experiences I have had with Tanya and Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston. My name is Jessica and I have an 8-month-old boxer mix named Athena. I wanted to train Athena while she was still a puppy. I tried to give Athena basic training and I was not able to accomplish the training I wanted her to have.

While researching different dog training companies on the internet, I came across Well Mannered Dog Training. I immediately called and could not pass up the services they provided. Having a trainer come to my house and see how Athena was in her surroundings was exactly what I wanted.

Athena and I began training with Tanya in mid-October 2008. Athena and I certainly enjoyed Tanya as our trainer.

I can definitely say that Tanya is a master teacher of both the four-legged and the two-legged species! She was patient with both of us. Her style of training is very positive, full of knowledge and motivation. I immediately saw results after the first lesson.

Tanya was always efficient and made sure I understood the correct way to train before she left each week. I absolutely would recommend Tanya as a trainer for all puppy and dog owners.

During sessions, Tanya addressed issues and concerns first, producing quick results, which allows us to cover new training as well. Since the fall, Tanya has worked with us to accomplish much: Athena comes when called, sit and down stay are consistent, hustle/whistle, shake, and heel. Before training I could not walk Athena; she would pull, jump on me and would not listen. I enjoy walking Athena now, she stays on my left, does not jump and it is a pleasure taking her for walks. These results are Tanya’s training and influence.

But the highest recommendation would come from Athena herself, as she immediately took to Tanya and was excited to see and eager to please her every time!

Boxer

Ollie the Boxer

I found out about Well Mannered Dog Training Charleston from the Internet, searching for some kind of help, which I needed for my boxer Ollie, and for myself. I had been to obedience training with him when he was very young, but after that was over I wasn’t consistent with all that I had learned, and realized we needed more training. It seemed I was having the most problems with Ollie at home, so Well Mannered Dog Training sounded like something I could use.

The biggest issue I have had with my dog is a constant battle for the leadership position in the household. He is a very strong-willed dog who wants to be in control, and I am the opposite of that. My trainer from Well Mannered Dog Training was Tanya. Tanya was very good at letting Ollie know that she was not playing around, and would not let him get what he wanted. I could always see a difference in how Ollie reacted to her, and then how he would act towards me. He would give her respect, and then just walk all over me. Some of the different things Tanya taught us were sit/stay, down/stay, come, control walk/heel, and place.

One of the biggest improvements I think I had during the training was with walking Ollie. He is still a challenge for me, but I was able to get to a point where I could walk with him and actually enjoy walking. I have come a long ways with him, and it is still an ongoing process. What I’ve learned the most is that I need to be more confident with myself, so Ollie will listen to me and respect me. I definitely recommend Well Mannered Dog Training to anyone who feels they need help with their dog.

I believe it can help the owner as much as it can the dog.
